A parody for 2nz's Hitchhiker's Guide To The Beatles project... That I've been following and now I can be a part of! This is about the "Total perspective vortex" a torture device from the second book: "Restaurant At The End Of The Universe" that shows you how small you are in preservative of the entire Universe and actually ends up killing everyone who sees it because their brain can't process it.
Vortex has your brain removed
One step inside become a nutter
It shows the galaxy’s a huge thing
With a sign that says “You Are Here”
Your brain will explode I fear

Frogstar World B you’ll go
And while you’re there they force your torture
Disembodied voice is spooky
Guide you to the machine
You’ll burst into smithereens

Total perspective vortex knows

If I had Zaphod's heads I'd write twice as many parodies (or maybe I'd just run into twice as many obstacles preventing me from writing at all).

Great soundalikes all the way through. And nice work getting Gargravaar in there. It blew my mind (with some cake), but 'An unknown spec you own' and the stanza it's in were inspired. If I ever get the chance to perform this (btw, let me know if that's ok), I might change 'Total perspective vortex knows' to 'Total perspective, in you're thrown'.

Oh yeah. That would be awesome! I'm always down for hearing my songs recorded! I do like that line but I went with mine because I wanted to get the full title of the machine somewhere in this parody.

That's what I thought. I'm still so glad you covered this item in the 2nd book. I thought it was great when I read it and then completely forgot about it, like Zaphod would. The conversation between Marvin and that giant battle tank thing before Zaphod meets Gargravaar is a great bit too.
