Original Song Title:

"Yellow Submarine"

Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"Yellow Margarine"

Parody Written by:

Airfarcewon

The Lyrics

Credit for first use of this title goes to "Seven & Nine"...mine has a different theme...so I'll submit it......Also.NOTE: in the chorus, pronounce margarine as margareene
On the farm where I grew up
Had real butter constantly
But when war years came along
Spreading changes there would be

Margarine, the cheaper spread
People soon began to buy
But the dairy industry
Made a whiteness rule apply

Used to mix our own yellow margarine
Yellow margarine, Yellow margarine
Had to mix our own yellow margarine,
Yellow margarine, Yellow margarine

With a color packet came
Little tab, as red as flame
When we blended it, ole'

We spread bread with a yellow margarine,
Yellow margarine, Yellow margarine
No more white had a yellow margarine,
Yellow margarine, Yellow margarine

Butter is dead, said the farmers, butter is dead
Butter seemed dead, it did, yes sir
In the market, on the table,
Cheap price, Sir, cheap price
Thrifty, thrifty)

States let regulations ease
Yellow margarine was sold to please
Yellow M was we'd need)
White's not right, like butter's keen
(White's not right, like butter's keen)
We need yellow margar-eene
(Good old yellow margar-eene, aha)

Nowadays we buy yellow margarine,
Yellow margarine, yellow margarine
Some as good as butter we have seen
Yellow margarine, yellow margarine

Nowadays we buy yellow margarine,
Yellow margarine, yellow margarine
Some as good as butter we have seen
Yellow margarine, yellow margarine

I had never heard of mixing color with the white margarine to make it yellow. Each day I learn something new.

Thanks, Patrick...yes, that;s the way it was..as Walter C. used to say...you may have already researched some on the web, but back in the day, we'd buy it white, and mix it yellow with the small enclosed food coloring packet..no taste change...same white, as yellow...but looked better to the eye...and as I indicate in the parody, this was brought on by dairy industry pressure...Individual states decided when they would, finally, market margarine pre-colored.

Sir, old Wiscites, demanded that 'oleo' be colored so that it would easily be identified as such! Go Paula ~ love thy Butt----er !

Very clever comments, and Thanks, Lil ButterBall...I think you're politically correct, LCC, Dear, but, we mustn't say "Colored" ...these days; Margarine prefers to be referred to as "Yellow"...we must do this, or they'll think we're spreadjudiced..

Made me laugh (spreadjudiced), so 5s for the comment alone. Still a good parody, but it woulda had me churning with laughter if you coulda worked 'spreadjudiced' into it somehow.
