A tribute to my favorite sci-fi tv vehicle- the mighty Ark II. "Ark II" was a Saturday morning Filmation live-action series that featured 3 young scientists (Jonah, Ruth, and Samuel), along with an intelligent chimp Adam, that roamed the remnants of 25th century devastated US carrying with it the knowledge of the last scientists on earth. It was an eco-show, so the Ark II crew always were peaceful and encouraging new methods to grow crops, use green energy long before the 1990s movement, and teach morality to the survivors. Most impressive, however, was the massive Ark II vehicle that carried within a mobile storehouse of information, a hydrogen fueled seconday vehicled called the Roamer, radar, a cool jet pack for scouting, and was armed with a power laser weapon up front and force field generator for protection and rescue only. Two myths are false about the vehicle. 1) It was NOT a RV conversion but a custom-built machine off a 10 ton truck chassis and 2) it was NOT the Landmaster from "Damnation Alley"!!! Pics below...
