With the South Carolina primary won easily by Newt Gingrinch by double-digit strength (40% vs 28%), the battle is on: Newt, a Washington insider vs a rich, centrist outsider. Romney lost in Iowa to Santorum and now loses to Gingrich. Santorum has won once, but has fallen to 4th after Gingrich, Romney, and Paul (a steady 3rd Libertarian candidate running on a REP ticket). Both Paul and Santorum have no chance to win nor debate Obama, so the race is down to Romney vs Gingrich and Gingrich has the Washington insider advantage. Strongly outspoken, my personal belief is that only Gingrich at this point can win the nomination and defeat Obama. Mitt looks the part, but is an outsider seeking to buy the nomination with his vast fortune. Solid Evangelicals reject Mormonism as false christianity and the Tea Party thinks Romney is too much of a moderate. He has his work cut out for him...
