Postwar, the Bundeswehr experimented with an unusual twin-gun tank destroyer of the Jagdpanzer design from WW2. It was too unorthodox and was rejected in favor of the Jpz Jaguar 1 Kanone with a 90mm gun and then later with the Juguar 2 that had a missile system instead which lasted into the early 2000s. The Leo 3 design was before the Swedish S-tank with the main gun in the turretless hull! Pics below... The _other_ Leo 3 was a MBT experimental in the 1990s with 140mm main gun. It was not built b/c further Leopard IIs can change out the 120mm gun for the 140mm at any time! German words: zwei= 2, drei=3, klein=light or small, Jpz (Jagdpanzer)= tank destroyer!
