The Captain of the cruise ship Costa Concordia lied about the events of Friday the 13th that caused the ship to hit a reef and cut a 160 ft gash into the hull. He was deliberately trying to get closer to shore for claimed "tourist value" but ignored the reef and the ship collided. When he realized what he had done and with the ship listing after taking on water- he chose to flee in a lifeboat and was caught by Police ashore. Even after given the chance to return to his boat to help get eveyone off, he refused!!! That alone is worth 12 years in prison and then there are now 6 deaths and 16 still missing, 4 days later... not to mention the damage to the ship which is part of the Carnival line.
