The Lyrics

The He-219 Uhu (Eagle Owl) was a shocking surprise to the British when test series aircraft shot-down several previously immune de Havilland Mosquitos along with 14 RAF bombers in six night trials! It was the first German nightfighter to do so and the only other conventional (piston) aircraft to do so besides the German jet Me-262. The Uhu had 2x 1900 hp DB 603G engines, was armed with up to 6x 20mm MG-151/20 cannon (or 4+2x 30mm MK-108), had radar, and a top speed of 416 mph up to a height of 41,660 ft! It also was the first German aircraft fitted with ejection seats as standard! But despite it's great performance in combat, the LW ignored it and even cancelled production when the war shifted against Germany. More day fighters were needed plus the jet production. So with Heinkel using 5 facilities to produce the He-219, production was halted. Only 268 of these incredible aircraft were built in various lethal versions. Engine upgrades included turbocharged DB 603Ls, Jumo 213s, and even 2500 hp Jumo 222s. Mixes of 20-30mm cannons and oblique-firing upper guns caused the RAF lots of trouble...
Great surprise
Great surprise

Mossies die
Mossies die

The "Owl" flies
With great pride
The "Owl" flies
With great pride

It once ruled the night skies

[High production denied]
