The Lyrics

You know the drill: OS
In a town where life is sports
Lived a clan so pale and lean
And they told us of the strife
In the land of rugby teams...

Oh, we fail to win a scrum
Silly clowns, oh, we get reamed
And we give and sneak away
When the yells blow rough and mean

We're all kids on a yellow rugby team
Yellow clucking queens, smellin' blood, we scream
We're all kids on a yellow rugby team
Hell, we suck extreme', welling up, we keen

And our friends are all abhorred
Many more of them wish we'd score
And the fans begin to stray

[Trumpets play]

We fall, licked by our fellow rugby teams
Fellows rough and mean, bellowing with steam
We fall, licked by our fellow rugby teams
Yellow butts are creamed, quelling all our dreams

(Home team has fled, Mr. Starkey, home team has fled!
Home team disappeared, sir!
Gutless wonders! Gutless wonders!
Aye, aye, retired!
Chickens! Chickens!)

As we're ribbed by wives displeased (gibed and teased)
Making fun of us (ev'ry one of us) and all our deeds (appalled, indeed!)
Thighs are bruised, (quite contused) and knees and speens, (bleed obscene')
On our fellow (not so yellow) rugby teams (lugs so mean) (Ha ha!)

Sweet malt fizz on the yellow Buds that stream
The mellow suds redeem yellow rugby scenes
We're all lit on the Jello plugs and Beam
A-smelling pub latrines, yellow rugby team

[Fading]

We're all kids on a yellow rugby team
Dwellin' snug and clean, tellin' of our schemes
We'll outlive all our fellow rugby teams
Mellow rugby team, beltin' suds and Beam

Kind of an oddity - guys playing rugby who are frightened to do so - must be for the drinking afterwards. Great rhyme and pace on this one and fits well with OS.

Can't you just go get drunk without playing rugby? ;-) Lots of great subs and that signature syllable matching. Very funny, great job! 555

Great job, Leo!! Love the way you varied those choruses in your song. Never played rugby in my whole life, but you tell it like it is! Kicking and scoring 555 goals for this one!!!

I'm not at all familiar with rugby, but you put that song to good use.

I used to play rugby in high school but the teachers wouldn't allow us to have the piss-up afterwards - great job on this

Not only does this parody have excellent spot-on pacing, but it achieves something that I strive for in my own parodies and that I enjoy seeing in other writers' parodies: excellent syllable matching (i.e. rhyming as many of the parody's syllables as possible to the corresponding syllables of the O.S.). Brilliant technical work, well done!

I loved that you included the spoken part because a lot of the time people forget to put that part in there and I'm one for parodying every single last part of a song not just what's on the lyric sheet.

Very interesting take on a very rough sport, one of the few that make hockey seem like figure skating. . .

Great rhymes throughout that didn't turn into rhymitis. Also kudos for finding another great parody in this OS. Not too familiar with Rugby except I call it "Footbrawl". "Hell, we suck extreme'" lol.

(ABC5) Crazy rhyming here, I must say. Can't remember if I've ever played rugby, but I'm not planning to now! 555!
