The Lyrics

We're gonna have another vote,
Another vote.

You're having your say, you think, but now let me explain
Though you voted "nay", we'll have to try that one again
We won't accept any result that we don't want
So we will have another vote, another vote.

Repeating elections that we don't like if we lose
We're gonna keep voting until you vote how we choose
And once we've got our way, the referenda stop
Till then we've got another vote

Another vote, so we'll win it in the end.
We'll frickin' win, yes
On that you can depend

I don't want to say that we are undemocratic
But the only pathway we'll go is the way that we pick
We think you're fools and we don't care what you don't want,
So we will force another vote.

Another vote, so we'll win it in the end.
We'll frickin' win, yes
On that you can depend

We don't want to say to you that you cannot say "no"
But voting our way, it is the one way it can go
Then once we've got our way, this time we're gonna stop
There will be not another vote. No other vote.
No other vote.

Intersesting info on the treaty and good write of a nice old Beatles tune.

Beautifully done! Not only in this case, but in all the other cases where special interests push and push and push against majorities until, by hook or crook, they get their way. 555!

Time, locations, and names change, but people don't. Plenty of issues have come up in the US where a pressure group, in our out of government, just keeps trying and trying and trying -- how trying!. Nice insight into human nature, far beyond Ireland and this one treaty, Phil. My first vote was 555, but if you don't like that, I can vote a different way.

Your so good with these not-so pushy political parodies! Ditto Forsby & TT'sby!

We have similar occurrences here in "The Colonies", but we seldom need another election. Someone just sends the issue to the Supreme Court, who, in their infinite (and unelected) wisdom, makes the decision. Checks and Balances indeed.

But it looks like *our* vote is unanimous for you! 555. :D

:-) Thanks all.

It is one of the (many) things that annoys me about the EU: the people at its heart profess to be democratic, yet don't practise what they preach. The Commission (epitomised by its head, JM Barroso) is undemocratic, arrogant and hypocritical to a truly sickening degree.

Vote early and vote often....oops! I'm a little late, missed this yesterday. Surely my vote will still count, since it's 555. ;-)
