In April 2007, Michael Vick was implicated in an extensive and unlawful interstate dogfighting ring that operated over a period of five years. In August 2007, he pleaded guilty to felony charges, and was indefinitely suspended from the NFL. He was sentenced to 23 months in federal prison, and began his incarceration in November 2007. With loss of his NFL salary and product endorsement deals, combined with previous financial mismanagement, Vick filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July 2008. Vick was released from prison to home confinement on May 20, 2009. Falcons owner Arthur Blank stated that he did not want Vick on the Falcons, and after attempts to trade him failed, Vick was released. On July 27, 2009, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell conditionally reinstated Vick, and will consider him for full reinstatement by Week 6 of the 2009 season at the latest, and possibly as soon as Week 1. But thanks to Donovan McNabb's renewed recruiting, this time lobbying Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie and coach Andy Reid, Vick appears to have an ideal landing spot and mentor to help him relaunch his once-soaring football career after 18 months served in federal prison for bankrolling a dogfighting ring. The Philadelphia Eagles have thrown Michael Vick a "bone'!!!

Having Vick back in the NFL sux, but it isn't as bad as Teddy Kennedy spending decades in the Senate. At least Vick didn't kill any humans, and he did serve *some* prison time -- not defending him, of course, just saying that Ted's even worse. They'll meet in the pit (bull) of Hell, where Teddy can rot-while away time as a senator there. No justice on Earth, that's for sure.

II think it ridiculous that someone involved in dog fighting ring is still able to be re-considered for playing a major role in one of America’s top sports. He should consider himself lucky most normal people don’t get second chances like that.

Good news story parody. I remember when this happened back in the day because I thought it was terrible, but I would have loved to see an "All Dogs Go To Heaven" parody with Michael Vick on MAD TV. Sadly it never happened and that's why I need to start a skit show.

(ABC5) Well, I'm lost. Was this parody meant to be cheering that he's back, as what seems to be implied by the last sentence of the intro paragraph? Is it meant to be condemning him, as most of the comments seem to indicate? What's with all the dog jokes? Am I missing an inside joke here? Oh whatever. Sports parodies aren't my thing, neither are news parodies, so this one just doubles the not-my-thing-ness. Nothing wrong with the parody, it's still written well, pacing's tight...I just can't get into it due to the topic matter.
