Parody Song Title:

"Cricket Outside"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Written at the end of the second test of the just-finished whitewash ashes series, but for some reason I forgot to post it.
I'm drinking here on my own
Because it's today, yeah
The England team's gone and thrown
The Ashes away, yeah

They're playing cricket outside
They're playing cricket outsi-yi-yide
They're playing cricket outside
And I don't care

Seems like they'll never learn:
They've gone two-nil down, yeah
Not a hope they can turn
The series around

They're playing cricket outside
They're playing cricket outsi-yi-yide
They're playing cricket outside
And I don't care

I don't know why they're playing so crap
Because they bowled shite
And they bat dreadfully
Another bloody batting collapse
They ought to bowl right
They ought to bat patiently

I said that spinning with Giles
Would be a big blun-der
Panesar would have turned
The ball more down un-der

They're playing cricket outside
They're playing cricket outsi-yi-yide
They're playing cricket outside
And I don't care

I don't know why they got MBEs
OK, they won twice
Yeah, that was quite nice - briefly
They never stay that long in the crease
One blink and they're gone
Why do they put on sun screen?

I think they're gonna be f****d
I think it's today, yeah
The England team's gone and chucked
The Ashes away

They're playing cricket outside
They're playing cricket outsi-yi-yide
They're playing cricket outside
And I don't care

I really don't care
No, really don't care
I truly don't care
(fades out as he goes to check the score)

*smirk* I'm really *smirk* sorry about the *smirk* Ashes result, Phil...England put up a good *smirk* fight *giggle*. It seems that while your guys can't bat for s**t, they can sure do a mean tango on TV! Great parody, btw...big 5's.
What do Geraint Jones and Michael Jackson have in common? Two men who wear gloves for no discernible reason...;-)

Geez, Phil...you found a sport I care less about than American Professional Football! Of course, it helps that I know little...actually, close to nothing about cricket...I guess it's a little like baseball in some very basic ways, except they don't pay THESE fools the same type of incredibly outrageous $$$ to do it. But I found this amusing and I really like the comments you got so far, especially Kristof's smirk-stuffed Aussie reply. 5's ~ ~ ~ and back to my grindstone, playing that great American game, "Income Tax Filing Season"...

I thought this was going to be about an annoying insect, but as a sports fan I feel your pain! Nicely written from the beginning to the end!

fun to sing to. I know a lot more about the bug then the game.

I thought this parody was going to chirp! ;-) Anyway, if I have a dog in this sports fight, it's on the side of your opponents - sorry Phil. Great parody tho'.

What Ann Hammond said... Sticky wicket, and it may not be cricket, but I say Fives for the funny spin anyway.

Phil, thanks for makin' me smile. 5-5-5 tests to nil for you, but I would have awarded them even if the poms had turned the last three around (of course, that is a lie, as i would have killed myself by then...) :)

Thanks, everybody. Though you Aussies have to admit that there is one thing at which the England cricket team is much better than you: managing to turn a promising start into a dismal defeat. We're *really* good at that ;-)

Sporting dominations are cyclical. You'll be back.
