The Lyrics

Sometimes I think we heap too many toys on our kids. I thought this one up tonight after literally saying to myself while cleaning up the den, "Arrgh, look at all those little pieces!"
Argh! look at all those little pieces
Argh! look at all those little pieces

Where can the kids be?
Pick up their blocks, puzzle pieces,
Nude Barbie's a lot
(Hey, Barbie's hot)

We always tell them
You don't take care of your stuff
We will throw it all out
Why do we shout?

All those little pieces
Where do they all come from?
All those little pieces
Go back to Toys R US!

Dad's in a frenzy
Cleaning a room in the back
That was once called the den
Remember when?
Now it's a playroom
He damns the day when
Those Lego's were bought and I fear
He needs a beer

All those little pieces
Where do they all come from?
All those little pieces
Go back to Toys R US!

Where can the kids be?
Thousands of times did we
Tell them to clean up this mess
Parents distressed

Mom's in a frenzy
Throwing out pieces of tea-sets
In China they're made
Nobody played

All those little pieces
Where do they all come from?
All those little pieces
Go back to Toys R US!
Donate your un-used toys!

Though I love 'Eleanor Rigby' and find many parodies to it hard to swallow, this has a very recognizable theme (although I'm speaking from my experience as a toy owner, not a parent, when I'm remembering my days as a 5-9 year old) :-) 555 anyway, it paced well. I didn't expect ever to five a Rigby parody.

"Hey, Barbie's hot." You could be on to something here. Jeff Foxworthy had a bit once: "Little girls love dolls, but they don't love doll clothes. I once walked into my daughter's room, and there were eight Barbies lyin' around with not a stitch o' clothes on! I had a fantasy about bein' G.I. Joe on a three-day pass!"

This hits home--very well done and good wordplay! (BTW I tripped over "Sorry!" and seven Bratz dolls in order to get to my computer to give you 5's. It's amazing what a mess two girls can make!)

I loved the Lego reference! I can relate. It's the pieces of those that don't get picked up that make walking bare foot in the dark an adventure.

I'm with Dad, but I don't think Toys R Us takes them back once they are used. Well done, Stevie.

Awhile back they changed Barbie to make her figure more "realistic". According to David Lettermen, Ken immediately started seeing other dolls. This was really good.

Mason- Very funny..Call it an occupational hazard. Organizing my 4 yrs old's toys just amounts to ordered chaos. Piles of stuff in a plastic bin. PMS - You can't defeat Legos, you can only hope to contain them. They are like anarchy in a box! If stepped on a few late night lego landmines too. Rex - LOL. Very funny Letterman comment. I can just see him dead-panning that one.
