Sometimes I sit on the lifeguard stand, just watchin’ all the people swimmin’ ‘round.
Big ones and little ones, fat and thin, makes no difference when you jump on in.
They’re swimming pool people, yeah, yeah.

There’s one does a crawl with a dolphin kick;
another’s workin’ a butterfly to impress a chick.
And it’s different strokes for different folks.
And so on and so on, shooby dooby splash.
Ooh, sha sha, we got to play in water.
You go splash, I go splish, it’s all water going under a bridge.
She back strokes, he breast strokes, they all side stroke, and then,
You freestyle all the way to the end.
They’re swimming pool people.

The crawler goes fast but endurance doesn’t last,
The swimmer on his back is taking a nap.
‘Cause it’s different strokes for different folks.

Ooh, sha sha, we got to play in water.
One dog paddles just like an old boat,
One’s treading water just to keep afloat.
They’re all in the pool and together they soak.
