The Lyrics

The Food Industry has trained us to look out for "good prices" on certain foods, ie. a $1.99 for a can of coffee. Those prices still exist---in smaller containers--- gradually shrinking year after year after year.
Used to buy canned coffee, two-bucks a pound,
Folger’s best French roast, number one fresh ground.
Though they kept the same price
Five, six ounces they sliced
It’s a small can after all.
It’s a small can after all
Makes you buy more overall
Coffee stains now on my wall
It’s a small, small can.

Used to eat Wheat Chex every morning when
Boxes used to hold plenty vitamins.
Then they skimped on the wheat
Hardly three bowls to eat
It’s a small box after all.
It’s a small box after all
Fortified I’m still not tall
Gen’ral Mills will make you crawl
It’s a small, small box.

Used to fix tuna in the six-ounce can,
Wanna have hard abs, wanna be a man.
Starkist held back the fish
Where’d it go in my dish?
It’s a small can after all.
It’s a small can after all
Just 4-ounces Port O’ Call
Leaving hungry down the hall
It’s a small, small can.

Used to scoop ice cream for my family,
Used to fill six bowls, they ate happily.
Then one night I ran out
My poor children they shout,
“It’s a small tub after all”.
It’s a small tub after all
Friendly’s, Breyer’s they’ve got gall
Serving sizes ultra small
It’s a small, small tub.

So we get less food at a higher cost,
In these stores so big, sometimes we get lost.
Think we’d all lose some weight
Makes you think, hesitate
We get less, less food.
We get less food after all
Bus’ness booming at the mall
Cutting coupons I’m appalled
We get less, less food.

Great song to adapt this theme to, Jimbo! These "shrinking sizes" as "pricing rises" really sucks nowadays...

I hate the OS too but your parody is very fitting.

The fact that reducing sizes to keep prices constant actually worked just shows how dumb the average consumer is.

Much like this parody worked.

Thanks so much everyone for your approval of this sad but true parody, sorry for putting that awful tune in your heads! I've known about coffee for years, but this year the ice cream and tuna caught me by surprise....upon further review I'm only getting 22 grams of protein from tuna instead of 33.
