The Lyrics

This is about the PBS show 'Downton Abbey'. We like it.
What is the Abbey where the Dowager's crabby and she runs the show?
Down-ton!
What's the estate where every footman and maid's not always apropos?
Down-ton!

Where there's exciting intrigue when some girl backstabs her sister!
(Homely witch is spiteful 'cause she doesn't have a mister... of her own...)

Where lightbulbs are heresy, and where your future depends on the family tree... visit
Down-ton! Come see the "one percent..."
Downton! (...here, they're benevolent!)
Downton!... they will be waiting for you...

What is the residence where good taste and elegance are undenied?
Down-ton!
What is the house where only malcontents grouse about the class divide?
Down-ton!

The rich stay rich, the poor stay poor, but each respects the other
Master treats his servant like a son if not a brother… (wouldn’t you say?)

Not equals, nor more, nor less; each plays a part of his own that’s distinct from the rest, here at
Downton! social mobility’s...
Frowned on! Gentle gentility...
Counts on… simple civilities here…

Pure brilliance. Not only is it wickedly funny and perfectly paced, but now... I don't ever have to actually watch the programme! BONUS!! (Lol, sorry, not a fan myself.) Are you really only 14? If so... darn it, you're good already! Anyway, here's a 555 - which is more than I'd ever give Downton... sorry, couldn't resist ;^)

I've seen lots of ads for this show, but have never watched it. You appear to have summarized it perfectly. A very nicely arranged parody.

Not a Downton watcher, but enjoyed this nonetheless - and welcome back: it's got to be *years* (like.. you can't still be forteen, right?)

I've never seen it either, but Patrick's summary of your summarization sums up my sentiments.

If you're really fourteen and beautiful, I'll forgive the misspellings. ;^) I've watched two episodes, a rerun of the last of Season 1 and the first of Season 2, and I not only echo all above commenters but also recommend it to them.

I see that you submitted 20 parodies in 2004, one in 2007, and now this. Welcome back, and if you were 14 in 2004, you must be 21 or 22 now.

Thank you! What a warm welcome back! And for those of you wondering about our ages, just think of us as being eternally young. Or eternally immature, at any rate. :-)

Ah.. does that mean "Forteen and Baeutiful" are two different people? Never even crossed my mind :-) Still, as they say: growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional.

I love this! Am a big fan of DA, and have been clicking around the internet researching my favorite show. Very impressed.

Never seen Downton Abbey, but I've been following the hype in the press. This parody is a hoot!

This is just good stuff all around. It's very hard to get the mechanics of the original song this well while still melding the spirit of the song and the show as you've done here. Thanks for putting this up!
