sits upon his throne;
hoping no one notices
and just leaves him alone.

year after year's the same.

In the 1990's, life couldn't improve at all--
Hi Tech simply asked for dough,
investors heard the call;
Leaning on the surplus, Gray learned how to spend,
and when the circumstances changed
his habits didn't end.

With the year 2000,
came the downward trend,
Those who did predicting
didn't know when it would end;
Gray asked for some answers-
nothing good was said,
no matter how he tally'd it
the bottom line was red.

Fire recent hires
followed by those with time,
It hardly mattered what you did
unless you dealt with crime;
Fire some more teachers,
increase the classroom size,
And when the test results come in,
simply act surprised.


Now it's some years later
things are just the same,
We're living in his legacy
but can't recall his name;
We still look for reasons
which we cannot find,
We only can be certain that
some kids were left behind.
