This is a parody based on the Speed Racer Episode "The Fastest Car on Earth" which was the GRX named after Bent Cranium's engine which killed 5 drivers including the inventor himself. So it was buried but dug up by his son to be installed into a golden racing frame ordered by Oriana Flub for the Oriental Grand Prix. The driver had to breathe in a Mindex drug to keep him from hallucinating and trauma of speeds up to 497.20 mph!!! Speed is warned by Pops not to attempt to drive that vehicle but Speed does anyway. It almost kills him. In the race the driver is warned not to drink water which will counter the Mindex drug, but he drinks before the race and loses control in a fiery wreck. The GRX IMHO was the better car than the Mach 5 anyday even w/o the Gizmos. But then again, I'm a speed freak. In real-life the Germans installed a 3500 hp DB 603A fighter engine (Bf 109) into the Mercedes T80 for a world record attempt near the GRX's speed for 1940. Their aim was 465 mph on the Dessau Autobahn. The LSR race was cancelled due to the war, but the T80 survived and is on display in the Mercedes Museum in Unterturkheim AFAIK.
