Peter Andressen had this same idea about a month ago. I thought it was a really great idea and lyrics immediately started buzzing in my head. So here's my somewhat different take

(A word that's really close to "Chicks") were the ones to give us Covid
Be it wet market or germ lab made
They gave us Covid .. 'Cause they risked it

Very different take on the subject beyond the title swap. And with thousands of cities in China, all with their own wet markets, what are the odds that Covid would spontaneously have erupted on the one of those being in the same city as the only biolab experimenting on such viruses in the entire country - way beyond PowerBall odds on even a cursory math examination I'd think.

And the odds go up even further when you find out the habitat of the bat involved is in Yunnan province which shares a border with Indochina and Myanmar and is 1000 miles to the Southwest of Wuhan. So how does this creature find its way to a fresh kill food market in Wuhan

CML, I don't know why you feel obligated to take too many words from the OS for this parody. Why can't you use Bats instead of Chicks? There is no word needed to rhyme chicks in that stanza. You could exaggerate that bats could be used in a lab, b/c China hides info too well.

@ Arch Vile: The main secret to this Original Song slash Giant Hit is its musically strong positive atmosphere - something very seldom heard outside of the kind of common sad ballads that gets the public to light lighters and hold them in the air. From the top of my head right now I can only name one more, and it's the appropriatelly namned "Summer Song" by Joe Satriani, which unfortunatelly has no lyrics so I'll never be able to use it for a parody, but it's a great soundtrack for jogging with it's background 162 BPM:

In fact, the word I chose is by far the best choice, by most principles of song parody. It sums up the whole theme of the song and is extremely close to the OS word "chicks" which is also the most important word in the entire stanza ...... Now, if you're concerned about the feelings of people in China, let me assure you they dont care at all. The Chinese have even coined a derogatory term "baizuo" or "white leftist" for left wing woke thinking. They consider it a weakness to be exploited. Check out the Wikipedia entry about this
