Parody Song Title:

"Go Your Own Way"

Parody Written by:

Alvin Rhodes

The Lyrics

here's my first attempt at a hybrid song (i call 'em "smooshies").. its the fleewood mac song "go your own way" inserted into "dock of the bay".....
you don't make the lovin' fun
no more shackin' up...i guess we're done
watchin' the pain set in
and i'll be breaking up that chain, again

yeah

i'm certain you should go your own way
call it another lonely day...ooh
i'm so certain you should go your own way
i'll go mine

i don't feel kindly towards ya
i didn't used to feel that way
gave you my world, but you want more
so now, i'm packin' up...i cannot stay

yeah

i'm just gonna quit...you can go your own way
call it another lonely day...ooh
i'm quittin'...you can go your own way
i'll go mine

look here, how's things gonna change ?
everything has gotten rearranged
you went "phew", when i offered my world to you
so i guess i will do the same

yeah

sittin' here, future unknown
and on monday morning, i'll be alone
looks like our pact's been blown
so just stay out of my home

now

i'm just gonna quit...you can go your own way
call it another lonely day...ooh
quit it...you can go your own way
i'll go mine

(whistling of the "go your own way" melody)

How many fives-to-the-gallon does a hybrid like this get? ;-)

Sing an old song new way,
Dock of the bay.

Well done. These hybrids are always most difficult. This one works for me.

Nice job--I wasn't sure this would work since both songs are kind of, well, depressing. But you did a great job!

Alvin, very fine job. Looks like you threw a little bit of "The Chain" by 'Mac in there as well...at least a snippet in that 1st verse, which I thought was a nice touch...5's - Encore! Encore!

thanks paul and ash...and i threw "monday morning" in there, too

Alvin, I somehow MISSED the "monday morning" reference. Careless of me. Good stuff. Now, when are you going to do a "hybrid" using "Tusk" for the lyrics...hmmm...seriously, maybe it would work as the "lyric receiving" song...??? but I have no idea how...just a very strange thought passing thru the correct toll-lane on it's way somewhere else...
