Didn't Gere start the '80s male sex symbol thing with "An Officer and a Gentleman"? Then it was Harrison Ford, Kevin Costner, Mel Gibson, etc... who look _really_ old now. Only Tom Cruise seems to stay in shape but he's a fruitcake ;-D
Gere still looks pretty good. I think Sean Connery probably lasted longer than any of them.
