The Lyrics

I haven't done anything particularly controversial for some time now and from what I've seen, the time seems right.
Remember when I ran for prez and I got on my knees and begged you not to be on Dumb-O’s side because he was a jerk?
Well, you threw me over anyway and then I got that cabinet post and then Benghazi almost cost me my mind.

And they’re going to take it away HA HA
They’re going to take it away ho ho hee hee ha ha
In the primary, where hopes and dreams are smashed and broke
And I’ll just happen to see those nice young things with my husband, dear
And they’re going to take it away ha ha

You thought I was a joke and so you latched, you latched onto the “One” who said that he would be the one to be awake at three, right?
You know you did, and when you did, old Rush was there to save my ass, extending my primary bid

But, they’re going to take it away, again
They’re going to take it away, ho ho hee hee ha ha
In the primary, where aspirations lie in heaps of burning wreckage on the floor and all the while you sit and smile
As they come in to take it away ha ha

I promised “this”, I promised “that” and this is the reward I get for all the pandering I do to you? Hah!
Well just you wait, I’ll get there yet, and when I do I’ll see you pay and pay most dearly every day, I’ll kick your butt.

And, they’re going to take it away HA HA
They’re going to take it away ho ho hee hee ha ha
In the primary, where dinosaurs whose turn has come all go to die politically
And they’re going to take it away ha ha
In the primary, where every slap upon the back could be prelude to an attack
And they’re going to take it away, ha ha
In the primary where hopes and dream are smashed and broke
And I’ll just happen to see those nice young things…

I've suspected for some time that you were a better -- if not conservative, at least non-liberal -- political parodist than I was. My muse is in a Rip Van Winklesque state of dormancy at the moment, but even in my heyday I never wrote a political parody this good

Thank you Lennie, I take that as high praise as you are no slouch. I know what you mean about your muse, I really have to be inspired to come up with something good.

Poor Hillary...always fair game, I guess...now, more than ever...I remember this old funny original...yours is just as good, and funny

Top points especially for using this song, brilliant in context. Play the b-side (which is the original played backwards) and Romney wins in 2008 instead. :)

But who can say if that would have been a good thing or just a different thing? ;-)
