Parody Song Title:

"I Am Joe Cowley"

Parody Written by:

Max Power

The Lyrics

Sung at Cowley's point of view.
I've always voted whoever I wanted to
Had rankings poppin' into my head
They all wanted me dead
It's the way I vote
Controversy's in ESPN

I vote Jeter sixth, 'cause I am Joe Cowley
Not a single clue in my head
I screwed up, I am Joe Cowley
Now everybody just wants me dead

I had created a nationwide furor,
after voting Derek Jeter sixth
I left Mauer out
When I'm the one who should've been kept out

I vote Jeter sixth, 'cause I am Joe Cowley
Not a single clue in my head
I screwed up, I am Joe Cowley
Now everybody just wants me dead
Sad that the voting was tainted by one dude, though regardless of the results, still that was messed up. He also did the similiar thing in 2003 when he omitted Delgado from his ballot. Interestingly, he omitted Mauer from his ballot this season as well. Listen as his arguement fell apart faster than Howard Dean's chance in the 2004 election after that gay scream: http://podcast.wfan.com/wfan/49495.mp3

(SOTM) Wish it were funnier.

I'm sorry Max, I'm going to have to agree with Agrimorfee, it wasn't exactly humerous

(SOTM) Max, if I can give you some advice, try doing longer songs with more well-known subject matter. Doing things like this just confuses people...and the iffy pacing doesn't help.

(SOTM) Max, I'm torn here between leaving a lame, cop-out "good" and saying what I truly think, but I'm going with the latter. You picked a great OS, and had a really good parody and execution through the first verse and chorus, but after that it kind of falls apart. You missed the "all you get is pain" line in the second verse (as well as rhymed "out" with itself), then copy/paste the chorus, which uses the same "head/dead" rhyme couplet as the first verse. There is more song after the second chorus, and by not changing up the choruses, or doing the parts after the second chorus you lost chances to make this a funnier parody. 433

SOTM - I didn't get it. Well, there's always next time for you.

(SOTM) I always get confused with any parody that's politics-related, no matter what OS or which author.

(SOTM) I'm sorry, Max, but an a non-American who doesn't follow your nation's politics too closely, this did nothing for me....and I didn't understand what it was about.

(SOTM) was this about American Idol? and that Simon Cowley? (is that his name?) - I think your fury at Cowley was what drove this parody Max, rather than providing entertainment for us readers - nothing wrong with that as long as you're not eager to get SOTM votes, and a lot of entrants submit just to get a wider audience, so that's okay too

I never followed American Idol, but I suppose if I were the left-out candidate I'd feel like writing something like this.---MM

SOTM - I'm somewhat comforted, but also saddened that I'm not the only one who's who's clueless about this parody.

This parody is disturbing -- it made me laugh and I don't know why.

'fraid I couldn't make head nor tail of this one.

Bit rough around the edges, I think. But I love this parody because of the comments it has inspired. I love the fact that you annoyed or confused everyone who came to read this parody. I love the fact that it's not about POLITICS, but rather BASEBALL POLITICS. and it's not about simon COWELL from American Idol, but simon COWLEY from the baseball world. You confused everyone, Max. That is glorious.
