The Lyrics

I wrote this a couple years back, when Paula was still on "American Idol". Strange to think that Randy's the only one of the original trio left...
There's a show on the western coast
Where young singers come to bravely boast
That they alone possess the most
Amazing voice around.

And there's a man known for saying "yo".
He is bald, and he's in the know
With bands he sang with long ago.
He started the Dawg Pound.

And Simon says, "Randy, you're a fine man,
What a good judge you will be.
But the show will get its good ratings
Thanks to me."

Randy wears a silver chain
Cuz he likes the bling, and he will not abstain
From jewelry. The stylin' game
Is a pastime Randy loves.

He's quite fond of saying, "Dude!"
And when Simon gets too rude,
He is not afraid to start a feud,
To holler and to shove.

And Simon says, "Randy, you're a fine man,
What a good judge you will be.
But the show will get its good ratings
Thanks to me."

And Randy sits by Paula and he proclaims performers pitchy,
And he chortles from behind his hand when dancing gets too twitchy.
But when he sees those hopeful youths, he advises them with care,
For he has also felt the stage lights' glare.

Each year, in town after town,
Simon tries to beat Randy down.
But Randy Jackson wears no frown
Despite what Simon says.

And Simon says, "Randy, you're a fine man,
What a good judge you will be.
But the show will get its good ratings
Thanks to me."

"Randy, you're a fine man,
What a good judge you will be.
But the show will get its good ratings
Thanks to me."

Holy Cowell! Clever tribute to one of the good guys in television! ;D

Hehe! "Holy Cowell" - I like that! Thanks for the thumbs up!

Bilbopooh - Simon sez, say good night Dick. (Ref US TV comedy show Laugh-in during the 1960's for say godnight Dick. Except it's adios Simon - I'll miss him like a bad pitch. Glad Randy is still there. He kills me when he calls the female singers "Man".

I like your work Bil. I also like the OS you chose very much. Can I give you a tip? You can get more mileage out of a write if you vary your choruses. Yeah it's more work but it is worth it. Let me further explain that there is nothing wrong with what you wrote and it deserves and is getting fivers. Keep 'em coming.

Guy @ OMR - LOL at "Holy Cowell" dude. =;-)

Never been a fan of the show, I admit, but I love the little digs on Cowell. Nice work, Bilbo. 5s!

Guy - Wow, Laugh-in! I saw a bunch of episodes of that years ago and thought it was hilarious. Shame there's nothing really like it on TV now. I will miss Simon; wonder how the show will fare without him... And thanks for the tip about the choruses. I usually just take my cues from the OS but I can definitely see the advantages of changing it up.

Thanks, Warren! I used to watch it really faithfully; now I just tune in once in a while. Have a feeling I won't be too glued to it next year...
