Original Song Title:

"It's My Party"

Original Performer:

Leslie Gore

Parody Song Title:

"It's Our Party"

Parody Written by:

Rex Ungericht

The Lyrics

I'm all in favor of getting the crooked politicians out of Washington, but if we did there would be no one left.
It's our party and we'll lie if we have to
Lie if we have to, lie if we have to
You would lie too to get voters for you

(The Democrats)
We are the Democrats, listen to us
We fight hard for the poor
And yet there's been no decline
In poor since "74

It's our party and we'll lie if we have to
Lie if we have to, lie if we have to
You would lie too to get voters for you

(The Republicans)
We are Republicans, follow us now
We'll show you how to be rich
Oops, there's no room at the top
Ain't that a son of a b----

It's our party and we'll lie if we have to
Lie if we have to, lie if we have to
You would lie too to get voters for you

[Musical Break during Congressional Recess]

(The People)
We are the people who live with these bums
Taking it on the chin
Oh what are we thinking of
We keep voting them in

It's our country and we'll vote how we want to
Vote how we want to, vote how we want to
You should vote too, for your favorite yahoo

This is a great use of that old song and I can't believe I'm the first one to post a comment. I wonder why I didn't think of that one.

If the Good Lord wanted us to vote, he would've given us candidates.

LMAO!!! Political parodies are everywhere, man! I'm not exactly how political Leslie Gore is, but I bet she could approve of this parody. I do. 555 This should go on my SOTM Top Ten.

(SOTM) For once, an even handed political parody. No one is to blame...ALL are. :)

(SOTM) Hah. Would've been better with more details, but you really can't cram that many in in a short song like this. Good job.

This is one of the best political parodies on this site. I don't like most political parodies since they are pushing one side, and not the other... Reps, or Dems... But this one pushes all sides, it's good...

(SOTM) short and sweet and to the point and a good message

(SOTM) Maps well onto TOS - does that make it a blue or red state parody? Ah, who cares. Loved the impartiality and the last line especially; reminds me of that South Park episode where Stan (Kyle?) is forced to chose between Giant Douche and Turd Sandwich.

(SOTM) Sorry, politicial parodies aren't my thing.

I thought I'd commented on this one already, too: it's an idea I've had but never turned into a full parody. Nicely done.

How in the world did I miss this? This is great anti-politics satire.

(SOTM) Great to see a truly non-partisan political parody on the site, Rex. So who do YOU vote for? ;-) 555

SOTM - A equal-opportunity-insulter political parody ??? Unheard of! Congrats for keeping it more or less clean.
