The Lyrics

Nancy Pelosi never ceases to surprise us. After a near-record loss of seats and control of the House of Representatives, she threw a victory party to celebrate "the achievements of the 111th Congress". Isn't this a little like Marie Antoinette staging a lavish costume celebrate the fall of the Bastille? ;D

Just look around - my old Congress is gone.
We lost some sixty seats.
But I refuse to admit
That we have suffered defeats!

Let's all party! It's a win if I say it!
That's how I'll play it! Loudly I'll bray it!
You'd do the same if you only were me.

Thumbing my nose at - the voting result,
Blissful and smug as can be.
But this can't alter the fact
That we're now min-or-i-ty.

It's MY party and we'll die if I want to!
Fry if I want to! Why would I want to?
I'm out of touch with the re-al-i-ty!

(Instrumental section)

Lucky old Harry - kept his power job.
He's as glad as can be.
Some of his folks ran against
Dumb jerks from Tea Par-ty!

Let's all party - like we're still running this place!
Purified our base! Still can't move my face!
If I say so - it's a big vic-to-ry!

(Fade out? I don't think so!)

I've been writing so many parodies from the viewpoint of other people that I'm beginning to have an identity crisis! ;D

The biggest opposition party's leader here in Sweden just resigned, and now the ruling coalition's having a party, I actually contemplates using this very song, but that would just make mine a runner up to this one, he-he...

IDNKTOS, so I won't vote; but I heartily agree with this spoof of a prequel "wake" for Nancy. The queen is dead; long live the queen (until 2012's election).

Actually, King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette did take part in the 1st anniversary festivities celebrating the taking of the Bastille.

Clever use of the classic Lesley Gore favorite.

Don't be ridiculous, Pelosi would've smacked Marie Antoinette, stuck-up rich conservative shrew that she was. But your mischaracterization of the way the best Speaker of the House in the last 20 years thinks pales in comparison to... Barry, you don't know the original song? How is that possible?!?

Thanks all. Michael - a 4-2-2 when you disagree is as good as gold. ;D

I guess that's what Botox does to you.

Pelosi did not have the gall to do THAT, did she? Throw a party? Time for her to face reality and start acting human..(as if) 5's...very clever!

Marie Antoinette was the daughter of Empress Maria Theresia of Austria. She was given, without her consent, as a gift to the French, somewhat akin to livestock, with the job of breeding a successor to the then adolescent King Louis XVI.
