"Not The Same As Blackface"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

My response to people who see blackface in the soot on the faces of chimney sweeps in "Mary Poppins" and in coal dust on the faces of miners. Naturally, I chose an OS from that movie.
Coal mine dust and chimney ash are not the same as blackface
If you can't tell them apart, you're gonna lose the rat race
If you think it's racism, you're nothing but a sad case
Coal mine dust and chimney ash are not the same as blackface

Dumb dittle little little dumb little mind
Dumb dittle little little dumb little mind
Dumb dittle little little dumb little mind
Dumb dittle little little dumb little mind

I watched that Mary Poppins film when I was just a lad
And nothing 'bout those chimney sweeps occurred to me as bad
But now some people wrongly think that they're a racist mob
The carbon on their faces is a hazard of their job

Oh,
Coal mine dust and chimney ash are not the same as blackface
If you can't tell them apart, you're gonna lose the rat race
If you think it's racism, you're nothing but a sad case
Coal mine dust and chimney ash are not the same as blackface

Dumb dittle little little dumb little mind
Dumb dittle little little dumb little mind
Dumb dittle little little dumb little mind
Dumb dittle little little dumb little mind

Now, coal miners around the world get dirty from their work
They don't make fun of anyone, no need to be a jerk
It's dust and not some makeup they must clean when they are through
If you can't tell the difference, then the problem, sir*, is you

Coal mine dust and chimney ash are not the same as blackface
If you can't tell them apart, you're gonna lose the rat race
If you think it's racism, you're nothing but a sad case
Coal mine dust and chimney ash are not the same as blackface

Dumb dittle little little dumb little mind
Dumb dittle little little dumb little mind

Now I don't say that racism is anywhere near dead
But with false accusations is a way we shouldn't head
You'd best consider carefully or it can ruin your day
For example
Yes?
Those teenage kids from Covington, please let them go away
Oh, and a stupid smirk he had, too, he he he

Hey,
Coal mine dust and chimney ash are not the same as blackface
Coal mine dust and chimney ash are not the same as blackface
Coal mine dust and chimney ash are not the same as blackface
Coal mine dust and chimney ash are not the same as blackface
*Instead of "sir", you may use "ma'am", or the equivalent for whatever gender you choose.

Nice job on this. It makes me wonder if Virginia is actually a coal mining state. That governor and lieutenant governor are not in blackface, he is just supporting coal miners. Lol.

What the perpetrator of the Arizona hissy fit never bothered to find out was that the men in the picture were Welsh miners having one last drink before they went on strike -- not knowing if and when they would go back to work; not knowing how they would feed their families. And the reason they had to do this was because their working conditions were incredibly dangerous, and even if they survived all the cave-ins and gas poisonings, their reward was to die of black lung disease before they reached the age of fifty ...... Our intrepid whiner complained that the picture made him feel "excluded" -- he's lucky that he was.
