Song Parodies -> "My Favorite Links"

Original Song Title:

"My Favorite Things"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Julie Andrews

Parody Song Title:

"My Favorite Links"

Parody Written by:

Merry & Pippin

The Lyrics

Collecting glass coasters and how to knit mittens
C. Sagan's crapple (where atoms keep hittin')
Bubblewrap (vir-tu-al) to pop – plink, plink !
These are a few of my favorite links

Steamboats and Sony and Kings that were feudal
Freudy and Carl Jung seen dabbling with doodles
Web sites that pair up the loons and the shrinks
These are a few of my favorite links

Check morsecode.com out for dots and for dashes
Sites that relay use for leftover hashes
Slytherin's website has Malfoy, the fink
These are a few of my favorite links

Kenny's delight
Benny's wee thing
Ten appealing lads
These are NOT some of my favorite links
Amen! I ain't yet gone mad

Chains, crops and poses of whipped birds in Britain
Tight crop-topped fellas with willies beschnitten
Clowns paid to smack her until she's bright pink
These are a few of my dubious links

Crufts, they get oodles of hits for their poodles
Doorbell is ringin' – I web-ordered foodles
Webcams supply pics of spoons on a sink?
These are a few of my favorite links

Girls in distress over smooth Latin flashers
So great! I'm downloading Ashes To Ashes
Diagrammed guide to teach tricks to my Slink-
ies are among all my favorite links

For the blog sites
For shirts that 'cling'
I'm clicking like mad
I simply look up all my favorite links
While keeping eyes peeled for dad

dad? (....??) nice work M and P - some very clever wordplay, and er, I know you don't care for it much but, and just for research purposes mind you, what IS that link for "Clowns paid to smack her until she's bright pink" - oh, no reason - 555

You two have earned my eternal admiration, just for using the word "beschnitten"...this was a load of fun, and great fuel for a month's worth of surfing. 555

here's a parody suggestion: my terrorist links. Scary. I'm glad this was funny. 5's

"Web sites that pair up the loons and the shrinks." If you consider it, that line sums up the entire internet, doesn't it? I am surprised you not include a verse about Middle Earth websites and Tolkien websites. I'm really surprised.

Very funny... I loved the Slytherin reference.
Peregrin - July 12, 2006 - Report this comment
Thank you all. :)

wandlimb : Well, you know which of the duo that was likely to have come from don't you ? :)

Sir Bertram : Despite our author names, you could be hard pressed to find a couple who collectively knew less about the subject !

Kristof : "Beschnitten" is a favourire Merry word... It is has found it's way into more than one of our parodies...

Stu : I am pretty sure I found that one at www.stumcarthur.com.au :)

M&P's parodies are my favourite things! Clever, witty and funny, as always :)

Is "dabbling with doodles" the same as "willies beschnitten" or have I got a dirty mind ?

LOL! Thanks for the, uh, (dare I say it?) "link" to here. (guess I dared). Great concept, and loved Sagan and morsecode. Hmm, "geek" seems to be winning over "perv" in this reading, but those were all good too. Killer ending!

Tried for a good ending here, too (link merely changes julieandrews79 to -87):

"Technically", these things we post (for plugs, lol) are not links, but URLs.
Links are underlined blue things that take you there when you click them, a/k/a "Hyperlink", whose simple method of creating is described here:

They were links to us, as we had them saved on a Word document! :) Mr 'TechINcal'

@TT: Aaaah! So THAT's where you are! You have my sympathies. Or perhaps condolences.
Tommy Turtle - October 19, 2012 - Report this comment
Peregrin, when they get posted here in comments, they're URLs, buahaha! ;) Only in the parody intro/outro can they be links.
And btw, being security-minded, I don't like live links, or any other code, in Word docs. FG once sent me an infected doc. Told her to get her machine checked; result: three separate malwares. (Good thing that I always practice Safe Hex, and so did not get infected myself, but spotted the tell-tale lesions in the doc. Which makes me a doc doc .. n/m. ;)

Meriadoc: Huh? Say wha'? Clueless... don't grok, sorry. 'Splain, please?

Meriadoc, I assume you're being facetious, given the discussions with Lifeliver (where I think you were present) about the propensity for typos, even when previewed? (What you said about mind being busy and elsewhere.) In which case, clever pun on a typo. ;)

If not facetious, then no, that's where I once was, for the acting career. (And unlike you, I'm still SAG, lol. ;-D). I think Pip has done enough research on TT parodies and comments to have localized the turtle. Or you could go through all the parodies yourself. ;)
