The Lyrics

7 BIG HOBBIT SONGS: Song 4. Anagrams yesterday, acronyms today :c). See if you can spot them all, there's 5 peppered through the parody. And enjoy all you LOTR/HOBBIT fans. Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how ADAM ECCLESHALL had this same idea first, as seen here. I couldn't think of anything better than his 'HERE FISHY' sub, so I didn't put anything else in its place. http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/julieandrews36.shtml
deep below a mountain, in the darkness that besets us
hiding from the sun and from the birthday that indebts us
we can sneak around and angry goblins never gets us
snooper-caving-Smeagol needing very much his precious

we kept the precious secret, it was ours and our own
we heard some clumsy movings and a hobbit sat alone
oh, Blundering It’s Lost Because Of how it lagged behind
so Bartering A Guessing Game, It Needs Some Exit Signs

a
sneaky, nasty, nosy thing, it for some help requests us
but when we approach it, in a riddle game it tests us
Baggins is its name and help we promised if it bests us
But if we should lose, we’ll simply go and get the precious

we started telling stumpers that would trap the Baggins there
but then it asked a riddle that was tricksy, never fair
we struggled with three guesses and found disappointing grief’
but then we guessed too late that filthy Baggins was a THIEF!

that
stupid filthy Bagginses has stolenses the precious
if we Grinds Old Lazy Loser Up, Meat burgers gets us
Spicing Meager Enemy, Add Green Organic Lettuce
Stupid, Ugly, Odd, It Covets, Evil, Robbing Precious

Funny how we both did Disney songs today! Well done with this one and very original using acronyms sprinkled throughout this parody.

Loved this one, particularly with the extra dimension of acronym-guessing. We're giving you a preciousss 555 :^)

Ingenious and inventive, Glen, a worthy addition to the Tolkien files. ' ... from the birthday that indebts us' was a classy touch. Can't imagine Gollum going for 'green organic lettuce' but it did the job.

Your riddle:
Once I caught a fish alive. It multiplied by three
My fish is now a teenager and likes your parody

I think you should have made it harder by not capitalizing the acronyms. I wonder how long it would have taken to get the last one (you could have hinted one was reversed).

Just a point about LOTR/HOBBIT. To me that means the Peter Jackson movies, not the books - FOTR, TTT, ROTK likewise. If I refer to the books I either spell out the titles or say Tolkien, Tolkienian etc. Pedantic perhaps, but there are significant differences sometimes. In this case the movies are irrelevant so I would say 'Tolkien'. It's not gonna happen, I know, but I'd like to see fans getting in to the habit of differentiating them in this way.

I have to agree that the birthday line was the best part.

(SOTM) Golem/Smeagel is one of my favorite film/literary characters of all time! I love love love love anything to do with him, so this was right up my alley! Excellent work on an extremely difficult OS.

(SOTM) This was really good, I like the acronym thing. I don't get the birthday line, but then I've never read The Hobbit. 555!

Went and saw "The Hobbit" a few days ago with my kiddies (actually adult children) I've been stuck on a Gollum parody that does have some pretty good lines. Hopefully, reading this will spark my muse to cross the finish line

The only redeeming part of this spoof was the OS...everything else was way over my head. The pacing was good too, but it did nothing for me, sorry.

SOTY...2nzy, you know that I love this, as I love your talent...(the acronyms are genius!)...and I love LOTR. However...it's missing a verse/chorus...(pacing against the film version of MP)...which makes me sad...as I would have loved to have had even more of this goodness. :)

Hello, Arwen ,, you may not know I've tried my hand at a few LOTR parodies. My best is probably "Gollumian Rhapsody", which is the song I was refering to in my previous comment on this thread. Then there's "Mordor, Mordor" (New York, New York) and a trilogy of songs under the title "Riders of Rohan". You might like them. Glen thought they were good

Completely understandable Arwen. I had used an incomplete copy of the lyrics and only realized it after it posted. This is a sort of tradition for me as 'why women need men's was also short a verse all those years ago. Thanks for almost ten years of support my friend :c)
