Parody Song Title:

"My Favorite Things (Conservative Version)"

Parody Written by:

Donald A. Smith

The Lyrics

Tax cuts for rich people, torture, corruption,
Lies about weapons of ma-ass destruction.
Foreclosures, Katrina, signing statements, debt,
Walter Reed Hospital, suicidal vets.

Swift Boating, vote switching, voter suppression,
Diebold voting machines, stolen elections.
Rovian dirty tricks, Valerie Plame,
Politicized Justice. We've got no shame!

Four thousand soldiers, a million civilians,
died for the lies that'll cost us three trillion.
Troops with poor armor, sent back yet again.
This war's for oil, says Alan Greenspan.

When the wives grieve
When the kids cry
When the Dems get mad.
We simply repeat the "fight terrorism" lie
And then we don't feel so bad.

Lines 3, 4, and 17 are one syl over. TOS's dactylic tetrameter is so classic and widely known that it should be easy to mimic, but aside from the lines already mentioned, Lines 6 and esp. 8 don't fit that meter. Vote 2 for mis-pacing the shortest version of a song that's been done here well over 100 times.

Content: First, confusing "neo-cons" with true conservatives. "Right-wing-nuts" also would have worked. "debt" -- The idea of deficit spending was a major part of FDR's admin, under the spell of "economist" (cough) John Maynard Keynes. Numerous other Dems have been big spenders - LBJ, Ted Kennedy, etc. Yes, it's sad the GOP joined them, abandoning its traditional fiscal restraint, but foul to call it on them and exonerate those who ingrained the idea.

Politicized Justice? Filegate, Travelgate, all the other Hillarygates... Vote switching, stolen elections? Made famous by Dems in NYC and Chicago, and the latter gave JFK the election that Nixon actually won, if you only count live voters.

Foreclosure crisis was a direct result of the Clinton Administration's Community Redevelopment Act, which, in typical Dem fashion, forced banks to lend money to unqualified buyers to meet some mythical ideal statistic of home-ownership. Restrictions on FNMA and FHLMC were also loosened during Wild Bill Dick-c*ock's admin. Read and learn before you preach or rant. No thanks on the web site if this is an example of it.

Scored a few valid hits, so 2 for content, and 222 overall.

Way too short -- then again, if the Bush Administration had been the same length, it would have been way too long! Though I have to give the Turtle some DAP: "Wild Bill Dick-c*ock" is one I never heard while The Big Dog was President!
