The Lyrics

A parody I did last year, about the 2010 Census. There are spoken parts that I have left out. This parody became the #3 song of the year on the Dr. Demento Show.
I'm here from the Census
Can I ask you some questions?
What's your marital status?
Have you lived here all year?
What's your annual income?
Can I have your phone number?
This is all for the Census.
There's nothing to fear.

Do you have any children?
What's their age and their sexes?
Do they currently live here?
Do you like boxers or briefs?
Should they be blue, green or yellow?
Would you wear matching panties?
Just answer the questions!
Don't give me no grief!

But this is all for the Census.
Do you like walking on beaches?
Do you wear silk pajamas?
Are you straight, bi, or gay?
Would you like to have dinner?
How about a nice movie?
But I'm here from the Census.
Don't send me away.

The questions keep getting more intrusive every few years. The only valid questions are the names of the people residing at a given address, for the purposes of apportioning representatives to the Congress.

Excellent work! I remember hearing the recording on Dr. D, too; great stuff.

I heard Partners in K'Rhyme (Randy and Kira) perform this at a convention a year ago, and it has stayed with me ever since, popping into my head out of nowhere when I'm at work and forcing me to look up the lyrics on the Web. Nicely done.
