The Lyrics

And now, the finer points of Hockey.
If you wanna play hockey for the rest of your life
You got to push pucks and then aviod fights
You gotta fire the puck to shoot it through
The Stanley Cup is counting on you
(repeat)

You gotta push a puck that is black and small
You got to get attacks and ram 'em to walls
You gotta win the face-off when the game starts
You gotta pass it to your teammate, or else you get lost

But if you choose hockey as your life
Then you'll be happy for the rest of your life
'Cause all it takes is an hour's time
and you will be the champions by post season time

If you wanna play hockey for the rest of your life
You gotta push pucks and then avoid fights
You gotta fire the puck to shoot it through
The Stanley Cup is counting on you

(sax solo)

If your cable company has golf in taste
Then flip it to hockey anyway
From Anaheim to Washington, ratings get hatched
The goalie is the one who stops it with a big glove catch

If you wanna play hockey for the rest of your life
You gotta push pucks and then avoid fights
You gotta fire the puck to shoot it through
The Stanley Cup is counting on you

(spoken)
Say man!
Hey baby!
I saw the Thrashers the other day
Yeah?
Yeah, and they're scor-ing!
Yeah, they're scoring, but they play good hockey, baby!
Yeah, alright!

If you wanna play hockey for the rest of your life
You got to push pucks and then avoid fights
You gotta fire the puck to shoot it through
The Stanley Cupp is counting on you
(repeat 3x)

Arcade - Very clever! Nice job. I was surprised to see someone use this original song. I remember first hearing it around 1965 while sitting in my brother David's 1962 Ford Falcon Convertible on the way out to work at our family's business in the San Fernando Valley. He had the latest in car sounds that you could get at that time: it was a 45rpm record player attached under the ashtray compartment on his dashboard. It had springs to keep it from skipping the needle over the record and looked like some sort of toaster. It actually worked pretty well. The needle must have been tremendously heavy to never skip - it must have been like putting your records on a lathe. Anyway, I thought the parody was very good and I'd use hockey terminology to pun the "fives" I gave you but nobody ever scores five goals in pro hockey (do they?).
