The Lyrics

Big Bad Don by Jeff “Dr Chordate” Moran

He came to the office every day about noon.
He stood six foot three and weighed two sixty two.
Kinda narrow at the shoulder and broad at the hip,
But everybody knew they didn’t give no lip to Big Don.

Big Don. Big Don. Big bad Don.

No one seemed to know where Don called home,
New York City or Mar-a-Lago.
He twittered a lot; he wasn’t shy,
And if he spoke to you, you said, “Aye, aye.”

Some one said he came from the Queens
Where he paid a porn star to fulfill his dreams.
And he hired a large legal team
To deal with lawsuits that came in streams.

Big Don. Big Don. Big bad Don.

Then came a time of prolonged distress
When the Mueller group created a mess.
Dems subpoenaed and Barr refused,
And Don called everything, “Fake news!”

Through the dust and the choking of this self-made hell,
He walked with a swagger his base knew well.
He grabbed a few pussies and sent out a tweet,
And like a giant orange, he was juicy and sweet.

Big Don. Big Don. Big bad Don.

With presidential power, he gave a mighty, “Hey!
No one testifies unless I give the Okay.”
A hundred people scrambled to get out of town.
And only one was left to wander around.

With votes and slogans, a campaign began.
You could even hear the grumble in the heartland.
A blue wave tsunami, it was a sign.
Everyone knew it was the end of the line, for

Big Don, Big Don. Big bad Don.

They never again voted for such a worthless twit.
They moved on and got over it.
Just these few words of a hist’ry bygone:
“This was a time of a big, big con, from Big Don.”

Big Don. Big Don. Big bad Don.

I'll bet you though Hillary would be elected, too.

So many remarks could be offered it's hard to know where to begin. In sum, you did write a parody that captures the rhythm and meter of TOS and you do have the right to express your opinion. That said, I think you're missing the point about testifying and executive privilege. Do you honestly want the president or any Cabinet member to knowingly break the law, such as what Rep. Nadler and the Democrat crowd are insisting he do just that? And I don't see a blue wave coming, not with Mr. Trump's approval rating at 46%, higher than just about anyone else at this stage of his term.

I loved it a lot, lol. Donald Trump was bad to the bone in this parody.

I think "Big John" is the most parodied song in history (except for AIR, where "I Put A Spell On You" prevails). Every politician and sports figure has been the object of some writer's imaginative rendition. Regardless of your views on Trump, this is a well paced and funny song. It captures Trump as a larger than life character. Anyone who wants to be President has to have a high level of self-esteem. In reality, Trump's supporters are his biggest critics. The left doesn't come close. And their criticisms are based in reality, not just mindless slogans.

Nice one. 5s!

I already did "Big Dumb Don" in March 2017, but new ones are always welcome.

Michael Pacholek Sorry. I always check for previous parodies of songs I'm parodying, and I didn't see that.
Libby - May 13, 2019 - Report this comment
Jonny, his approval rating is ALWAYS 46% (or lower). That's not an improvement.
Jonathan Spurlock - May 14, 2019 - Report this comment
Libby, I respect your opinion. It is a fact that Mr. Trump's approval at 46 is just as good if not better than Mr. Obama's at the same time--but I doubt anyone in the MSM will ever admit that. Patrick, that may be true but don't forget, Rob Arndt (sp?) did a whole bunch of "Love, Love Me Do" parodies. Some songs are a lot (a LOT) easier to parody than others. It's good that we have this forum, arena, or whatever where we can express opinions and have a laugh or two. Keep it coming, folks!
Jonathan Spurlock - May 15, 2019 - Report this comment
I need to make a correction. Rob Arndt did create a LOT of parodies of "I Put A Spell On You", many more than his "Love Me Do" anthology. He's been gone for some time now and I for one miss the works that he created. Rob, we remember.
