"Purple Haze"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Jimi Hendrix Experience

Parody Song Title:

"Purple Veins"

Parody Written by:

J. F. Kinyon

The Lyrics

As performed by the Jimi Homeless Experience of course:
Purple veins all filled with pain
lately drugs just don't seem the same.
Lackin' money and you all know why
'scuse me while I kill this guy.

Purple veins up and down
don't know if I'm gonna hit the ground.
Am I livin', it's a mystery
what ever it is I'm lit like a christmas tree.

Purple veins all in my eyes
don't know if I'm the anti-Christ.
You got me dyin', dyin' inside
tomorrow is just a waste of time.

What are you on, man?

What I had in mind were varicose veins and doctors who ask you if you have insurance.

Jerry Seinfeld once said that if it's not laugh-out-loud funny, it's not funny. "'Scuse me while I kill this guy" is a laugh-out-loud line. I know I did.

What's not to get? The parody is obviously talking about intravenous drug use. When heroin junkies shoot so much that their veins collapse - their veins turn purple or even black. Hendrix' Purple Haze was a drug song that glorified being on drugs, this version shows the dark side of being on drugs. Again, pretty obvious to some of us.
