The Lyrics

This parody will only mean something to fans of the hit 1980's TV show "Moonlighting", which starred Cybill Shepard and Bruce Willis. Yeah, I admit it, I had a crush on Shepard at the time. :)
Maddie Hayes, you rack my brain
You've had lots of fortune and fame
You're so fickle, I don't know why
'Scuse me, can't you commit to a guy?

Maddie Hayes, girl about town
Blue Moon Detective of some renown
Addison's in misery
You would be my girl, if it were up to me!
(Help me!)

Maddie Hayes, you're on my mind
Looking real good in soft-focus light
More explosive than a big H-Bomb
And you're old enough to be my Mom!
(Help me!)
Maddie Hayes! Maddie Hayes!

Agrimorfee - Wow! you weren't kidding about the "archive" thing. I see "1989" next to your copyright post. I remember the show, it was OK, sometimes (Bruce Willis' character really annoyed me in it, the rest of it was alright). Certainly remember Hendrix/Purple Haze. But this one is just kind of average to me.

Ag, you could have written one of the lines as "Scuse Me While I Kiss This Guy."

No way Tim, ...that's line's been around since Hendrix has been pushing up the daisies. http://www.kissthisguy.com

As far as I know, this is the first parody on the site about "Moonlighting," but the second to mention it, after my own "Jumping O'er the Shark." And if you really love the show, then you don't need to read my parody to know when the show jumped. Which is no excuse not to read it.

When "they did it", of course.

Maddie Hayes had been always my favorite character in "Moonlighting", in spite of her short temper and bad attitude. I remembered back in high school I had a boyfriend I went out with for 5 years, we were the Luke and Laura of Milton School. After awhile, we acted like David Addison and Maddie Hayes when we fought a lot. You gotta love that Cybill Shepard! I also remembered when I watched Alvin and the Chipmunks, Brittany was Maddie Hayes' character (actually Bratty Hayes) in Dreamlighting.

Lord Agree, great spoof on my Fav 80's TV show! Brucie is my Favorite all-time Comedian, and has quite a '6-pack' as well . . . DearHeart had said that Cyb married the 'wrong Bruce' ! And I say that Demi has a crew lose! . . . If I had my way, I'd love to do comedy, with a madcap leading Male, of couse! That's why I love cowboyDave so, He was the perfect macho straight man( a la Clark Gable) to my Carol Lombard. My vote is that M'Lighting is Classic TV, up there with The H'Mooners,Gleason & Meadows.

Never even heard of this 80s TV show. Way before my time. This isn't as sharply paced as some of your modern work but not bad for a parody that was written when I was just a 1 year old.

One of my all-time favorite TV shows. And I don't give a flying fig who knows it!
Rob Arndt - June 30, 2016 - Report this comment
Me too, Porfle! And also the movie "Chances Are" with Shepherd and Robert Downey Jr. :))

I've heard of the show, but again, way before my time. Although I looked up the character and I can definitely see the attraction. Nice title sub, even though most of the jokes went over my head.

I heard of the show because Bruce Willis was in it. To think the guy started out in comedy, that would explain Hudson Hawk (though one of his lower moments) and some moments in Die Hard.

(Artistry) I have to echo Matty and Abbott in that this was before my time (I'm a 90's baby). I actually hadn't even heard of the show at all, but of course I know Cybill Sheperd. For me, I just likened this to me writing a tribute to my fav tv characters, and it that way it worked. The pacing was a bit loose and the limited lyrics didn't help elevate it though. Really dig seeing somethings from your past collection though!

(Artistry) 'Scuse my while I kiss the sky...cause this one went right over my head. I've heard of the show, but only because of Bruce Willis being in it before he started shooting people for a living. In addition, the limited OS kinda reduced the tribute to "This lady exists" for me. So yeah, not much else to say not already put forth by others.

Glad I could educate you millennials on this fun show. Check it out if you can, particularly if you enjoy fourth-wall humor...but give up on it once Maddie & Addison sleep together, that's when it went into the toilet.
