Parody Song Title:

"Just Like Ritchie"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Heinz alias Heinz Burt - the bassist of Tornados of "Telstar" fame, and one of the British artists who'd really have deserved better visibility - recorded Just Like Eddie as a tribute to Eddie Cochran. His guitarist in this song was a young, aspiring talent named Richard Hugh Blackmore. After making a career in blues, hard rock and heavy metal, he today plays Medieval music in a band named "Blackmore's Night". As a bass and lute player myself, I just had to make this spoof - as a tribute to both Heinz and Ritchie.

Whenever I'm glad, and music is due
whenever my fingers are itchy
I won't be mute, I'll play my lute
-- Just like Ritchie!

Now tournaments come and feasts come too
Without the music it's b*tchy
So bring in the flute, I'll play my lute
-- Just like Ritchie!

Now some play the shawm and some beat the drum
While bagpipes may be glitchy -
But lute's my thrill and I'm playing still
-- Just like Ritchie!

Oooh-oohh-oohhh... It's smoke on the water!

So let's take a chance and let's do the dance
I feel my feet are itchy
I'm a minstrel to boot, and I'll play my lute
-- Just like Ritchie!

Oooh-oohh-oohhh... I'll surrender!

Good song. You are a lutist? Wow...that is cool! I guess you could say I play a modern sackbutt (the Medieval ancestor of the trombone). ;D

Yup, I do play lute. We have several musicians (or, as we say, minstrels) in our re-enactment group, and we like to play together. I usually keep my lute on guitar tuning - it is easier that way. The actual word for a lute player is "lutanist".
