The Lyrics

Rulings come around from the high courts on down
With the dramatic pound of the gavel
They deny all appeals to reverse legal wheels
In The Saga Of Doomed Terri Schiavo...

She has lain fifteen years..showing smiles, but no tears
Now a caring World bows it's head lowly
The tubes to give food and water have been removed
Leaving her to starve to death slowly...

She was once, just a wife..with an everyday life
Washing clothes, sweeping floors, frying chicken
Attractive and young, but life's fragiley strung
In the blink of an eye she was stricken...

An unknown strain blocked blood to her brain
Doctor's blame Bulemia history
The condition was rare, and quick to impair
Somewhat of a medical mystery

A husband's still there..all these years..does he care?
Is it fair to shout, Boo's and not Bravo?
Claims to speak for her voice, and to die is her choice
In The Saga Of Doomed Terri Schiavo...

Congress even came out, but soon turned about,
When public opinion was swaying
And celebrities fixed themselves in the mix
Is it real, or for fame, are they playing?

President George took the reins and forged
A new law, but the courts did not follow
Brother Governor Jeb tried to slow down the ebb
But soon all attempts became hollow

Courts must have their say the constituitional way
It's right as the flags we are flying
Still, when there's no crime, should a judge choose our time,
And decide if we're living or dying?

If anyone knows where the love of God goes
Perhaps, Terri will when she passes
With her last breath that day, to herself, she may say
Death was worth it to silence the masses...

Rulings come around from the high courts on down
With the heartbreaking sound of the gavel
They deny all appeals to reverse legal wheels
In The Saga Of Doomed Terri Schiavo...

Quite a proper voicing of what the masses are echoing. You made it beautifully tragic with your fine lyrical skills. God Bless you AFW.

When i saw the title, I said "OH NO!" :0, but you came through with an intelligent work that was evenhanded and informative.

We need to pull the plug on the truly brain-damaged players in this spectacle: Delay, Jeb and Dubya, etc. ad nauseum.
Adagio - March 29, 2005 - Report this comment
This is really a tragedy...how could they do this to her?

Poopie, you said exactly the same thing about the Brady Twin's parody, only you changed the word '70s' with '90s'

A powerful depiction of a situation that is probably not humanity's finest moment.

A tough one to do. The pacing was off, but the point was made, so, as these attempts go, yours was better than most.
Rod Worden - March 29, 2005 - Report this comment
Though I disagree with your position on this tragic issue, I think you wrote a magnificent and poignant piece. Fantastic work.

Alas the yellin mispellin right wigner returns (I did that last on on purpose). Pander police, who's more brain dead? The person who tries to save a life (and don't talk about the war I KNOW that the war kills people but on the whole they are saving lives). or the person who wants to starve a woman to death. Good parody I'm glad someone agrees with me, hey if she a living will this woudn't happen but she didn't and it's even worse the way she died, starvation. If we did that to a baby raping murdering anarchist the ACLU would be on us like booze on Teddy Kenedies Chapiquick car!
