The Lyrics

Yes, you can indeed jump a jet plane. just like you can jump a freight train. It is not quite suggestable, though. Since Boeing 707s are all retired, I've taken the liberty to change the plane type.
In the early morning rain with wire cutters on my hand
I cut a hole on airport fence and I quickly run through sand
I'm heading to Promised Land where the milk and honey flow
In the early morning rain I've decided where I'll go.

Out on runway number nine a big 737's set to go
Now I'm hiding in the grass, run underneath the wheel well door
I'll climb on the landing gear and find a hiding place in well
I am wearing winter clothes, as up there it is cold as hell

Hear the mighty engines roar - now the silver bird gets high
She's away and westward bound - far above the clouds she'll fly
She's retracting landing gear, now be careful not get crushed
It is awful cold out there, and thin is air that there will hush

This old airport's got me down - I am hungry, tired and cold
But I'm now in Promised Land, and I'll seek asylum now
You can jump a jet plane like you can a freight train
But it's not a bright idea - in the early morning rain

You can jump a jet plane like you can a freight train
But it is quite desperate - in the early morning rain

Amazingly, the majority of these people have actually made it, historically.

See, Gordon Lightfoot was wrong ;-) You can indeed jump a jet plane like a freight train, but it certainly is a plane crazy idea. The chances of getting crushed by the retracting landing gear or freezing or asphyxiating in the cold, thin air are too big.

For some odd reason Susanna, your parody reminds me of the German Fallschirmjaeger troops that jumped from 400 ft or less from Ju-52s. Then a dash to the weapons canister! 555

I read a story about a Cuban teen who stowed away on a flight from Havana to Madrid. Arrived alive. I used to see a lot of Mexicans arriving in Kansas City on freight trains. Since the economy collapsed, fewer find it economically feasible to make the trip.
