This is an old one- one I wrote partly years ago, and but recently finished. Still, it's not the record - Piano-forte's got that one - almost twenty-five years.
Bourbon Cowboy
I've been banging these bars so long,
Moaning the same drunk song,
I know every bar with credit within a mile of Broadway,
Where muscle is the claim to fame,
And 'nice' flies out the door to lie in the snow and the freezin' rain.
There's been too much temporizing,
And I'm a victim of downsizing,
So after hours I get rousted, cop-lights shining on me!
Like a bourbon cowboy,
Riding out on a keg in a whiskey-bottle rodeo,
Like a bourbon cowboy,
Getting pints and quarts, from people I don't even know,
And whiskey pours out of the phone...
I know I cannot complain,
And free booze hides all the pain,
But a still is the only way when no one will stand you,
And I dream of what I will do,
with a hip-flask and a shotglass tucked inside o' my shoe.
There's been a load of slippin' and slidin,
On the way to my deridin',
But I'm gonna be where that booze runs straight,

Strippers failed to show. So, 5 Portuguese Ranchers held him down. They tore off his shirt, & poured 5 shots of Tequila down a young CowboyJim(16yrs), Then he was rarein' to go! He leaped onto the table top, Prancin' & Strippin' to the hollaring & jeering Heat of all the 50 Rancheros! . . . Thus began an awesome, Autumn tradition on the Campagna.
