Song Parodies -> Hassled By Narcs
| Original Song Title: | "Palisades Park" |
| Original Performer: | Freddie Cannon |
| Parody Song Title: | "Hassled By Narcs" |
| Parody Written by: | Alvin Rhodes |
last night, i took a walk in the park
a seedy place to be after dark
i'm sellin' drugs...like weed and LSD
no business so far
but as i ambled by, upon my route
i found a buyer and more followed suit
and after while, i was dealin' endlessly
the cash was flyin' 'round like some poker chips
drugs...are a real best seller
sold...to this loopy group
cause...they'll hound till quarry is found
i sold some dope to a certain man
i put a baggie in his outstretched hand
and when i did...he started playin' rough
its a bust, sure enough
you'll never know how cold those cuffs can feel
till you're popped in the midst of a big drug deal
when i'm sellin' drugs
i get hassled by narcs
i get hassled by narcs
i get hassled by narcs
i get hassled by narcs
a seedy place to be after dark
i'm sellin' drugs...like weed and LSD
no business so far
but as i ambled by, upon my route
i found a buyer and more followed suit
and after while, i was dealin' endlessly
the cash was flyin' 'round like some poker chips
drugs...are a real best seller
sold...to this loopy group
cause...they'll hound till quarry is found
i sold some dope to a certain man
i put a baggie in his outstretched hand
and when i did...he started playin' rough
its a bust, sure enough
you'll never know how cold those cuffs can feel
till you're popped in the midst of a big drug deal
when i'm sellin' drugs
i get hassled by narcs
i get hassled by narcs
i get hassled by narcs
i get hassled by narcs

Was this a case of being narcopleptic..when the narcs were around ?...good read, alvin
I've been waiting for someone to parody this OS! Great job...funny subject! I saw Freddy Cannon on a documentary about Palisades park several years ago, and he strummed a guitar and sung the OS....his singing was so BAD that I never got it out of my head! They must really do miracles in the recording studio! (almost as bad as Harry Chapin!)
A tough one to do, and you did it great. If only you knew the power of the Narc Side! Chuck A: Yes, Freddie was not exactly a vocal legend, but he could "WHOO!" with the best of them. I did this song a year and a half ago as "My Pal Wesley Clark," but it stopped being funny after he dropped out of the race. Also, I'm sorry I didn't see your remarks on that Three Stooges tribute before I wrote "Fine job." But don't be knockin' my man Harry. The guy had enough problems, including being married to Sandy Chapin, who has not exactly been a merry widow.
No prob, Michael, re: the "Fine" thingie. Harry Chapin was another one, like Cannon who came out sounding O-K on a record.....but outside of the studio, would make Cyndi Lauper look operatic! (...& O-K, I have to admit, being originally from Long Island, I tend to dislike most singers from LI! [Chapin]- now I have the Kentucky Headhunters for neighbors....).
Speaking of WHOO's, when's the last time anyone heard "Tallahassee Lassie"?! Add that to the list of lost oldies!
thanks AFW chuck and michael
