When we raised seven teens
Those were some very good years
Though, they were pretty tough years
For food cost bills..
And financial things
Done garage sale-ings,
And ate lots of beans
When we raised seven teens

For five girls, two boys
We had to tighten our belts
Cook lots of cheese sandwich melts
To feed the kids..
They chewed food like bears,
Wore out shoes, several pairs
Reebok's made no scenes
When we raised seven teens

We both worked moonlit jobs
Shouldered those rough busy years
The "Give up-sacrifice" years
For the fam'ly brood..
Stayed with the simple life
So did my precious wife
Played no golf on greens..
When we raised seven teens

And now they're gone, all grown
Married with fam'lies of their own
But we see them holidays,
And special times..
They come back home
Back to the nest, they roam
Reliving old routines..
When we raised seven teens

Those were some very good years..
