The Lyrics

Just a sap fest inspired by the individual who introduced me to the OS. On a side note, I had a bit of trouble with the spoken verse, so the syllable count may be slightly off.
How I want you tonight
Though you're with her tonight
And it took time for this love to start
How my mind seems to stray, brings me back to the days
When I wanted you for my sweetheart

And my hopes for our future were so firmly set
What we had was so special, I just can't forget
If she causes you harm, come to my open arms
Yes my dear, I still want you tonight

I'm thinking how I need you tonight
How love makes you do the strangest things when you open up your heart
I only had eyes for another the time when we would start
But fate had other plans
I needed a way forward
You came along in need of love but I never needed you
That would change too, I loved you more, although I swore
I'd never let you in
Well, my mind said I didn't love you
But my heart somehow allowed you
From the time I recall seeing you cry
I had started caring about you
Now you've found the one and your search is done
But loving you just feels right
If you're ever in need of me
You can be sure I'll hold you tight

If she tells you goodbye
Have my shoulder to cry
Know that I'll always want you for life
