The Lyrics

And here's our Rooskiy Elvis during his "socially aware" phase
As the wind howls
On a cold and gray Siberian morn
And another little baby refusenik's born
In the Gulag .. (In the Gulag)
And his babooshka scowls
Cause if there's one thing that she don't need
It's another inquiring mind to feed
In the Gulag (In the Gulag)

Comrades don't you understand
The child needs an iron hand
Or he'll be a social parasite some day
Take a look at you and me
Are we too bourgeoise to see
Or do we read our Pravda
And look the other way

Well, the sky snows
And a productive young boy with a frozen nose
Digs a ditch in the tundra as the Artic wind blows
In the Gulag (In the Gulag)
And his corruption grows
So he starts to read samizdat at night
And he learns how to think
And he learns about rights
In the Gulag (In the Gulag)

The one day, in inspiration
The hooligan breaks away
He writes a poem, climbs a car
Starts to recite
But he don't get far
And his babooshka cries ...

As a crowd gathers round a corrupted young man
Taken away to an asylum with a poem in his hand
In the Gulag (In the Gulag)
And as she says goodbye (In the Gulag)
On a cold and gray Siberian morn
And another little baby refusenik's born ..
In the Gulag

And his babooshka cries
(IN THE GULAG! ... Aaaaaaah...)

Loved it.

The wellspring for these Elvis parodies was a photoshop of Putin decked out as Elvis, which instantly triggered "Chernobyl Rain"; which is just a hop, skip and a jump from "In the Gulag"

A young man suffers his fate for learning and thinking too much, in contrast with the original song in which a young man is undereducated. Two very nice Elvis parodies today.
