Charlie Chan was my favorite detective from the time I was kid. I've read the books but, for sheer entertainment, nothing can compare to the films starring Warner Oland and Sidney Toler in the thirties and forties, especially before the series was discontinued by 20th Century Fox and bought by Monogram. So, here's my little tribute to Charlie and, especially, number one and two sons Lee and Jimmy.
CHARLIE CHAN
I am most humble detective
Your meek servant, Charlie Chan
Ways are slow, thoughts defective
Somehow stumbling on man
If you need poor help
Am most honored do what can
Yes, Charlie rise every morning
Memory short and wisdom lack
Of man each day I heed saying
Better off who sit on tack
Criminal very cunning
Work very hard find true facts
Charlie drink from ancient fountain
Learning slow on winding track
Sometimes fumbling that is certain
When sons help on cases cracked
Those could solve so much sooner
Would young sleuths have father’s knack
Charlie still rise every morning
Shaky bones and achy back
Bad men sleeping, Charlie thinking
As I change and suitcase pack
Sipping tea, for time is shrinking
Beating hearts of crime still black
I am most humble detective,
Your meek servant, Charlie Chan
Ways are slow, thoughts defective
Somehow stumbling on man
If you need poor help
Am most honored do what can

Excellent, Number One Writer. ;D
A real Honey-Lulu! ;)
If only he and Kato had teamed up! Great 'Parody He Wrote" stuff!
OMR - Thanks! "Sometimes dull stone makes very sharp knife." ;-)
Fibbergirl - Haha! You do know a thing or two about Charlie! Cute!
Thanks, TJC! Did you know that Keye Luke, who played Number One Son Lee, also played Kato in the Green Hornet movies? Both he and Sen Yung, who played Number Two Son Jimmy, were absolutely brilliant, in different ways, IMHO.

Forsby - I haven't thought about Charlie Chan since ah since ah probably the last time I thought of him. You really pulled a dusty one out of the archive in my mind. But as I remember those old flicks the parody seems to be relatively accurate through the cobwebs in my memory. He liked that word honorable and was full of Confucious type sayings. Thanks for the ride back in time.
"better off who sit on tack"
This is wise advice - who wouldn't get off who sat on tack? =;-)

You're welcome Guy. I always feel good when I can help someone bring back a few good memories. As for me, I know those old Charlie Chan movies backwards and forwards. Btw, that quote was taken from a quip by Number Two Son Jimmy. His exact quote was, "Man who sits on tack better off." As Charlie once said, "Man without relatives is man without problems." :-D
Good play on Charlie...used to watch him, too
... Keye Luke also played Master Po in "Kung Fu". If you can snatch these Fives from my hand before I close it ... it is time for you to go (write some more parodies). Very nice Chan-t(t).
Confucious say: You write entertaining parody. >-)
Thanks, AFW! They were a midnight staple here on a local station and Sunday mornings too for a while. :-)
Grasshopper - thanks for the reminder! "The seeds of our destiny are nurtured by the roots of our past."
blackjack21 - Thank you... so much. :-)
