Fannie and Freddie are loaners
Oh lordy, how they do loan
They'd grant anybody a mortgage
On a promise, even over the phone
Too loose with cash,
They started doin' it wrong..

Helped workin' folks buy new houses
Guaranteed loans, some in doubt
Mismanaged our legal tender
Now the "Gov's gotta' bail 'em out
They goofed too long
Yeah, they were doin' it wrong..

Way back in the sixties, they started
A GSE government plan
They back up home loans, secondary
Mess with interest, just because they can
They're big and strong,
But they been doin' it wrong..

The money they spend's from stockholders
Made up of shares, mutual funds
The cash isn't their's, so they're bolder
Bad investments, lose their buns..
Like Cheech and Chong,
They just kept doin' it wrong..

With all of the recent foreclosures
Stock confidence began to fade
Shares started dropping in value
A vicious cycle, all of it made..
No Wall street gong,
Fan and Fred done it wrong

For a moral to this, if there is one
"The Three Little Pigs" fit the file
Don't use sticks or straw, build a brick house
And you'll stay solid all the while..
So, who gets stuck?
We do..just taxpayer's luck..
