Original Song Title:

"Return to Sender"

Original Performer:

Elvis Presley

Parody Song Title:

"Return to Fender"

Parody Written by:

Susanna Viljanen

The Lyrics

I took my guitar on my shoulder
I plugged the cord on jack;
My bandmate told me that her Les Paul
was not at all that crack -

she told upon us:

"Return to Fender -
and single-coils;
Return to Fender
and sound that boils"
We had a quarrel,
a bandmates' spat
I told let's play now
but our sound kept firing back

So then I switched on the fuzzbox
and played a major D
loud and broken wast the sound now
She said right back to me.

"Return to Fender -
and single-coils;
Return to Fender
and sound that boils"

This time I'm gonna play the lead guitar
and play it loud and clear the sound
And if it's buzz and hum and background noise -
then I'll check the hot and ground -

Return to Fender -
and single-coils;
Return to Fender
and sound that boils"

Sussana... though I speak from the grave, I very much enjoyed your parody... and as for that spinning in your grave crap... man, can't do it in my Fender Stratocaster shaped coffin... peace, out...and high fives...

My first thought was that this was going to be about a car accident. My second thought was that this was going to be a tribute in memory of Freddy Fender, who just died. But this is fine.

Thank you everyone. Merri's idea (which he gave on my song "Gibson" - no, not Mel but the guitar) was all too juicy not to be employed - thanks Meriadoc for an excellent tip!

I usually play bass, but I do play guitar as well.
