The Lyrics

A Truck Runneth Over My Love

Sometimes in the evening when traffic is thick,
I stand on the corner and it makes me sick.
The drivers ignoring the stop light above,
A truck runneth over my love.

The amb-u-lance comes howling with 12 blinking lights,
While tourists are taking in the city's great sites.
While trying to see her they push and they shove, (to see)
A truck runneth over my love.

She reaches the hospital in just enough time
To fill out admittance forms and sign on the line.
And retell in detail in the small square above how
A truck runneth over my love.
circa 1970 college hootenanny. Nice to see the fine art of parodizing lives on.

A bit short for my taste, but it tracks well. :-)

1970 huh? :-)
May I suggest you resurrect this old hobby of yours, you could even use the same OS (Orginal Song) to take a symbolic look at current world affairs and state of war(s); "A tank runneth over the dove" or something like that that would also fit the sad tone of the OS.

I wanted to see if anyone made a parody of the OS which I think sounded like a variation - or rip off - of Today by the New Christy Minstrels.
