Like a maze within a tangle, like a birdnest on a reel
Getting spattered by some bug juice
Oh how awful that must feel!
Like a tumbleweed in Yuma, or a twister in the night
All mucked up by heavy rainfall and then blinded by headlights
And the wiper tries to clean it, but it still ain't lookin right
And the road looks like a pizza
That got ploughed a million times
Like the mess that you will find
On the windshield of my mind

Like a labyrinth of tunnels that go round and lead nowhere
Like a wick without a candle
Like a rung without a chair
Like a door that keeps on slamming
In the middle of the night
Like an apple that's half-eaten
Someone only took a bite
Like the wipers that are slapping
Back and forth in perfect time
And the road looks like a pizza that got ploughed a million times
Like the mess that you will find
On the windshield of my mind

Keys hang down from the ignition
And the wheels go round and round
And the radio is buzzin, what's this station I have found?
Yellow stripes upon the pavement
Fingers drummin on the dash
Just passed something on the highway
That a big rig must have smashed
And the driver right behind me needs to lower those high beams
Shadows all along the highway
Aren't as big as they might seem
And I'm trying to stay over on my side and not to dream
Pry my eyes more widely open
So that I will not get creamed
