Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I'm just mad about Disney
He's just mad with rabies
Im-a just-a mad at Walt Disney
Why'd you make that doggie diseased?
I bawled for Elder Yeller (Quite fright-ning)
I bawled for Elder Yeller (Quite fright-ning)
I'm bawling for Elder Yeller

I'm just mad about quarantines
a-Quarantined precipitously
Why you have Ol' Yeller in quarantine
He'll be fine, just wait and see
Apalled for Elder Yeller (Not right, see?)
Apalled for Elder Yeller (Not right, see?)
Apalled for Elder Yeller

Fallen guy into wild hog sty
a-Pig-a ferocity quelled
Gotta hide Ol' Yeller from bird's eyes
If you don't, the buzzards will kill
Enthralled by Elder Yeller (Quite rightly)
Enthralled by Elder Yeller (Quite rightly)
Enthralled by Elder Yeller

Epidemial disaster
It's gonna turn him foam-at-mouth crazed
Selectin' rabid dog blaster
Doggie Heaven is very next phase
Not LOL-ing 'bout Elder Yeller (Might bite me)
Not LOL-ing 'bout Elder Yeller (Might bite me)
I bawled for Elder Yeller

Oh, I'm just mad about Disney
Disney's maddening me
I'm a-gonna boycott Walt Disney
Went and pulled 'nother "Bambi."
I bawled for Elder Yeller (Incites me)
I bawled for Elder Yeller (Incites me)
I bawled for Elder Yeller

That poor feller
Poor sick feller ....

Great, great movie. Great parody, too. Didja know there is a sequel, "Savage Sam"? Has the same two boys, but it's more of a western than a "dog out on the cabin fields" story.

I knew about "Savage Sam", Ag. I didn't go see it it because, as a kid, I thought the title was "stoo-pid." To be honest, I never saw "Old Yeller" until a few days ago --when I watched it on YouTube to get a feel for it before writing this parody

Isn't this supposed to be Old Yeller, not Elder Yeller? That's the yellow dog that got bit by a wolf, right?

Stagnant as mosquito infested pond water! Get a real dog worth a damn, a coon huntin' Mississippi bloodhound!

Best parody of the day. I could almost hear Donovan singing it. Never quite understood dog worshipers. Too many bad experiences with people's unleashed strays. Just finished reading a survivalist novel in which the protagonists string fish line studded with hooks to slow down a patrol of enemy soldiers with dogs. They were said to "feel bad" about hurting the dogs that would have torn them to pieces. No such regrets for the humans they had killed. News stories about shootings are daily fare in Kansas City. I am always amazed at how unemotional the relatives and friends of the victims seem to appear in TV interviews. But if someone harms a dog, there is a blood lust to nail the perpetrator that can go on for days. Never saw "Old Yeller", but there is a similar scene in "Of Mice and Men".

Yes, of course Ginger. I changed the name to Elder Yeller to track Mellow Yellow, because like ..... that's what you do in the song parody biz ;-D
Dog Luver - August 31, 2015 - Report this comment
Sorry to disagree, but Rin Tin Tin was the best doggone dog of the West. Old Yeller usually places 5th or 6th on the best film dogs list with Lassie usually leading the pack. Most popular dog, animated is, of course, Snoopy with Brian Griffin and Santa's Little Helper following. Other famous movie dogs are Asta, Benji, Max, Hooch, Beethoven, the Taco Bell Chihuahua, Spuds, etc...

@Jonathan, Dog Luver and Jimbo. I'm a cat owner, due to my daughter's extreme affinity for cats, so I dont have a dog in this "best dog" fight (baroomp-doomp-bada-CHING!) But if we are to have this discussion, let's keep the tone civil. There'll be no name callin' on this here thread or oi'll be knowin' the reason why!! (pounding the table with my fist)

CML, my mom used to love "Honey West" starring Anne Francis in the 1960s. She had a pet ocelot named Bruce on the show! Bet your daughter would like to have one of those! 555 for the dog tale. I'm still waiting for "Run Joe Run" to be released on DVD. E-Bay only has 4 eps on CDR, recorded. Rob, the reason we didn't have dogs in the house was because my daughter was jumped by a Dalmatian who nipped her in her earlobe. Nothing too serious, although we did take her to urgent care. But I was concerned about how this would affect her. Apparently, the only after effect of this incident was that, as a child, she would cry at the ending of "101 Dalmatians" and laugh at the ending of Old Yeller. :) .... And then there was that time when she was suspended from school for carving "You go, Kruella" on her desk (lol)

Oh and did I mention that I liked Honey West, too? Not the show, the woman -- especially when she slinked around in that black cat suit. Had I been born just a few years earlier, I might have sustained my first woodie from that show. As it was, I had to settle for Dianna Rigg slinking around as Emma Peel to draw first wood-- or was it Yvonne Craig as Batgirl?

Maybe Julie Newmar as Catwoman from the Batman TV series??? I was in love with ISIS, Joanna Cameron; Lindsay Wagner as the Bionic Woman; Farrah from Charlie's Angels; Lynn Holly Johnson as ice skater, and Linda Harrison as Nova from "Planet of the Apes!!!" Even went through a Cher phase ;-)
