The Lyrics

And now, a few words about Tuesday's State Of The Union Address. It was a good speech. If you didn't like it, you'd probably wouldn't find any flavor of ice cream that you'd enjoy at Baskin-Robbins. I absolutely admire President Obama's oratorical skills when drawing the big picture. May he continue to sound and act like a real president rather than a Chicago machine politician or a Saul Alinsky-influenced street agitator. ;D

It's the words of hope and of change once more.
It's the campaign language we've heard before.
While we chant "Yes We Can" - there's no definite plan.
It's the real world after all.

It's the real world after all.
Fine words might fill us with awe,
But our problems are not small.
It's the real real world.

It's our "Sputnik moment" - we must not fail,
And we must invest in a high speed rail.
Keep our programs and yet - we will reduce our debt.
Is this real world? Not at all!

It's the real world after all,
Must heed debt comission's call.
Now here comes the budget brawl.
It's the real real world.

(Extra verse - not in the original song, but included under a "Continuing Resolution")

We must keep our land on the chosen path,
Outdo China in science and in math,
Make our small business grow - revise taxes although
It's the real world after all.

It's the real worls after all,
Setting us up for the fall,
More fed spending - the last straw?
It's the real real world.

(Another extra verse - again not in the original but borrowed from China!)

They all sat together, we watched O. try
To make Nancy jump up and Boehner cry.
'Though there was Kum-Bah-Yah - you can bet your dear Ma
'Twas not real world - not at all!

It's the real world after all,
Must account for Murphy's Law.
Instant action? There'll be stall.
It's the real real world.

;D

Entertaining analysis - but I don't believe there's a real world at all - I think we're all just characters in a John Steinbeck novel

Looks like the onester is hitting every paody today. Here's 555 to offset.
Wish I could give tens for the extra stanzas. ROF&LMAO !

Nope, AFW, this world is a great live action role-playing game and we are just LARP characters. 555 experience points.

According to Stephen Colbert's science-guy guest last night (can't remember his name), we're just a sack full of particles bouncing around. To which Colbert replied: "That's a great pickup line." Fine Realparotic.

I think some of you may remember me parodying this song, and I had such a time with the pacing, but it still was the only song in which I got the most comments, but it looks like OMR did not have any trouble with the pacing in his parody. ;-) Excellent work OMR! the original song "It's a Small World" is a very tough song! I find all Disney songs, as well as songs written by Billy Joel or Elton John quite difficult for me to parody. You did a swell job! ;-) 5's!

Great Song!!! After reading it, I can just imagine all the politician faces on those bobbing boys and girls watching me on the ride. Now I REALLY don't want to go on that ride again. :)

What a perfect choice for the OS... to match our Prez's fabricated plasticity and sleight-of-hand showmanship. Joining BJM in ROFL-- 555!!! (LOL @ John Barry's Colbert reference!)

Ha! No 'small' accomplishment!
So funny n' clever, by the second stanza I didn't even notice the extended boat ride and dancing puppets!
