Song Parodies -> "Those Nights in Wisconsin Dells"

Original Song Title:

"The Days of Pearly Spencer"

Original Performer:

David McWilliams

Parody Song Title:

"Those Nights in Wisconsin Dells"

The Lyrics

Warm evenings, heighth of summertime,
Who needs to watch that idiot's box
Or waste time on Teh Innertubez,
Out in the Blogosphere?
Broadway, Downtown Wisconsin Dells,
From the boat docks easterly,
The shoobie crowds can get restless
Trying to have their fun....

CHORUS:
Those nights in Wisconsin Dells, uh huhhhh,
Such crazy summer fun ...

The smell of burgers frying away,
Or of fudge batches being made,
They can get crazy, though not quite
To intoxicating excess;
Hustlers by the T-shirt shops
Trying to get the shoobie trade
By hook or crook, trying to evade
A certain local bylaw ...

(repeat CHORUS)

Sunset segues into night,
The bars get crazy in their way,
And the souvenir shops blaze away
In their tackiness,
The traffic may slow to a crawl
Among the gawkers and the townies,
But the people-watching's free,
Let's hope it stays that way...

(repeat CHORUS)

Haven't seen a Wisconsin Dells song here for a while. Wish gas was not so expensive and I had a car that was up to the trip. It must be a nice place to evoke such enthusiasm and a proliferation of songs. I've mentioned Kansas City, Kansas in a couple of parodies, but nothing that would make anyone want to visit. We're still losing population, sometimes by gunfire, mostly by property taxes. But next year, we're supposed to get the fastest Google in the world. We'll be able to download pornography nano-seconds quicker than anyone else.

I'll also have to look up this David McWilliams. If he can sing and write good songs, he's probably no relation to me.

Found a David McWilliams 45 rpm in my collection. Never listened to it until now.
